What Blockbook is
Blockbook is a small, independent index of hotels. It holds eleven properties, sorted into four categories: art hotels, capsule hotels, casino hotels and ice hotels. That is the whole catalogue.
Why so few? Because a short list can be read in one sitting. You can hold three art hotels in your head and see how differently they work. Sixty would blur.
How entries are written
Every entry is a short portrait in prose. It says where the hotel stands, how the building is arranged and what makes it fit its category. Facts are kept general and true to character. Anything that would need a footnote, such as a price, a room rate or a ranking, stays out.
Casino hotels are described as hotels. Their gaming floors are mentioned where they exist, as one facility alongside the rooms, restaurants and stages.
Who it is for
Travellers who like a building with a point of view. Planners comparing options before they go to a hotel's own site. Anyone curious about how a capsule cabin in Seoul differs from one in Bangkok.
